Auðkenni ehf. - FAQ

Closing the account

  • Auðkenni app accounts are device-based – each device can have one account. It means that:
  • Transferring a SIM-card from one phone to another does not transfer the app
  • Your account is safe: no one can accidentally “log in” to your account from their device
  • You can have as many accounts as you want – one for each device you use. When you get a new phone, simply download the app and register a new account. It is very easy, especially with our new biometric identification.
  • You should always delete the Auðkenni app accounts that you no longer use. It helps to keep your data safe.

If you are upgrading your device or changing devices, delete the old account when you have your new account in place. If your smart device has been lost or stolen, delete your old account as soon as possible.

There are several ways to delete inactive accounts:

If you still have access to your old smart device, use the Audkenni app to remove the account. This is the easiest and fastest way.

If you can't use your app to delete the account, sign in to the Audkenni portal and deactivate the accounts that you no longer require.

You can also contact our customer services for assistance if your smart device has been lost or stolen, or visit your local bank office to deactivate your accounts if you can't do it through electronic channels.

You should delete your Audkenni account. To do that either:

Go to the Audkenni portal and delete your account. You will need an Audkenni app account on another smart device or Mobile certificates to log onto the website.

Contact Audkenni customer service and ask to delete your account.

There are three main reasons why Audkenni might delete your account automatically.

Your PIN-codes are locked permanently. This happens when your PIN-codes have been entered incorrectly too many times.

Your account expired. Audkenni app accounts are valid for five years. After that you need to renew the account and re-authenticate.

Use of a cloned device. If our security system has a valid reason to suspect your phone is being cloned, it'll delete your account to protect you from identity theft.

NB Removing accounts does not affect your transaction history. All activities with the Audkenni app are tied to your national identity number.
